Inca's Hand-fed Baby Parrots

Every baby parrot sold at Inca's Secret is raised the same way. Whether it came from one of the carefully selected breeders Lisa personally trusts or it was born to one of our pairs of Parrot Parents, the baby is started on hand feeding as close to 14 days after hatching as we can manage. This allows the babies enough contact with the birth mom to learn needed life skills, like recognizing the feeding prompt and so forth, allowing them to be parents in their turn, should it go that way.

All of Lisa's babies are weaned from professional aviculturists' formula onto a mix of finely chopped vegetables, grain and fruit before eventually being started on a diet of pellets, fresh fruit/veggies and healthy treats.

During this period, Lisa socializes every baby. They are given lots of exposure to human hands, human voices and the presence of (many!) other parrots. They are given lots of time and space to fly once fledged. While not trained to be "hand-tame", these babies exhibit the best in socialized behavior, within the limits of creatures that aren't domesticated, that is!

If you have the patience to get "grilled" a little while we get an idea of your parrot experience, you will be rewarded by your time spent with Lisa and the staff at Inca's. Every person on staff is a long-time parrot caretaker and fully understands the unique difficulties and rewards that come with sharing your life with a companion parrot.

We do not keep an online catalog of available birds here, as this information changes frequently and we don't have a ton of spare time to update this page. You'll just have to contact us by email or phone, or better still, come in person to meet us and the parrots who wait to meet you.

It's pretty clear that Lisa and her staff really care about one thing here more than any other - that the birds they breed, sell, and board are treat well both on site at their shop and at their forever homes with responsible owners.
